FAQ

Here are answers to common questions we get.  You’re safe to explore here and feel free to reach out to us with your questions. We love to help!

  • Do I need prior experience?
    • No! That’s why we are here. We want you to discover new things within and outside of you, in a safe environment with people just like you… ok there is no one like you, you unique awesome thing, but you and your skill level, whatever it is, belong here. Our programs are designed for flexibility for various skill and interest level. Our guides will work with you to understand your prior experience and create an experience that will allow you to explore your limits, engage your curiosity, and have a lot of fun. Whether you’ve done the activity a million times and are looking to push yourself, or you are exploring it for the first time, you belong here.
  • What are the groups like?
    • We have done a lot of research on effective group sizes and dynamics, which you’ll see reflected in our offerings. Too many people can lead to us shutting down. Too little, and we can feel intimidated. Our group sizes range from 6-12 to find that just right spot. We will break out into smaller groups of 2-3 for more in-depth discussions, then find support in the bigger group. Whether you like to actively participate, or sit back and observe, come and be you. We are women of all ages, athletic abilities, and backgrounds. But one thing we all have in common: we have decided to see what’s inside of us, what we are capable of, that we want to be a fully thriving, passion filled, purpose driven woman ready to light the world on fire.
  • Do you do custom retreats?
    • Absolutely! From bridal parties, women’s ministry retreats, to corporate leadership retreats, and everything in between, let us work with you to create a program you’ll love. You’ll get to pick a place, activity, and topic. Or simply select one of the pre-arranged programming, just for you. We’d love to chat about how we can help you be you.
  • I have dietary restrictions. Will the meals work for me?
    • Don’t you worry about a thing. Most allergies, restrictions, and preferences can be accommodated. Let us know your needs when you register, and we’ll work with our food providers and nutritionists to create something special just for you! If you have questions in advance, just ask. Gluten free, peanut free, dairy free, vegetarian, vegan, paleo, keto. We’ve got you covered.
  • What will the lodging be like?
    • That depends on the event, but one thing is for certain – you’ll be spoiled (well, it’s not spoiled if you deserve it, which you do!), rested, and ready for your journey. Sometimes we stay in a full amenity hotel, a beach bungalow, a cottage, a bunk bed style hostel, or a rustic cabin with no electricity. Check out the lodging information under each event for specifics. Prices include double occupancy, meaning you’ll be partnered up with another participant. Let us know on your Interest Form if you would like to be paired up with a friend. If you want to have a room all to yourself, let us know! In most cases, we can accommodate a special space just for you, for an additional fee.
  • What is your payment and cancellation policy?
    • You’ll notice our Interest Form doesn’t include any payment information up front. We want to work with you to make sure this is a perfect fit. We’ll set up a time to talk through your interests, physical abilities, food preferences, lodging preferences, and any concerns you may have. Once you’ve decided you’re ready to grow your wings, we’ll send you the payment information and invoicing. We accept PayPal and major credit cards. For retreats, a non-refundable deposit of $250 is required to hold your space. You can make optional interest-free payments in any increment you like to fit your budget and pay cycles. Full payment is due 60 days prior to the retreat. For all other events, full payment is due at the time of registration.
    • We typically operate in all weather conditions, but may cancel or alter programming to accommodate. Please be sure to dress for weather conditions, as outlined by your guide.

  • What’s with the butterflies?
      • The BEU design
        • The butterfly. The butterfly has to fight so hard, not to get out of the cocoon, but because the fight builds her wings so that when she transforms, she can fly. If someone sees the struggle and fixes it for her by opening the cocoon, her wings won’t be strong enough and she’ll die. So, she finds a safe environment in which to build her cocoon, and begins her battle. Butterflies can’t see their own wings. She doesn’t know how beautiful she is. And on the first flight, and every flight after, she trusts her wings are there and will carry her. Butterflies fly hundreds of miles in migration, so though they appear fragile and delicate, they are actually quite strong. These things are true of us too. BEU is designed to provide the environment you need to fight within your cocoon (your mind, body, spirit), so you can transform into a more beautiful version of self, trusting in your own wings to bring you to the places you want to go. We can’t do this for you, because you need to build your wings strong. But, we’ll be cheering you on as you fight, knowing how great your wings will be. You are worthy, and you are beautiful, even when you can’t see it.
        • The woman inside the butterfly. Imagine for a moment -what does the body language look like of someone who is depressed, withdrawn, worn down, sad, exhausted? Now imagine again the opposite. What does the body language look like of someone who is celebratory, thriving, victorious, engaged, excited, happy? What happened to her posture, her arms? The body of the butterfly is you. Those are your wings. And inside your wings, you stand tall, arms raised in a V for victory. Celebrating your transformation. Your breakthrough. You being fully free to be who you are. To be youier. Go ahead. Try it right now, it’s vulnerable and scary, we know, but you’re so brave, go on… raise your arms outstretched tall above your head in a V, breathe deeply. And know you were made for great things. You have purpose, and there is a passion within you that blazes so brightly you can’t help but shine.
        • The colors. The primary colors associated with BEU are a vibrant green and white. Green is the color of life, nature, renewal, vibrancy. White is the color of light, healing, peace. The concept of yin and yang is a focus of BEU and is represented in the colors – the balance of vibrant renewing energy and calming restorative peace. We are confident you’ll find both in the BEU programs.
